HANOVER, N.H. – Head lightweight rowing coach Sean Healey announced the hiring of Trevor Michelson as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.

The New York City native was most recently an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wesleyan University for the men’s rowing program, and was the head coach for the Vesper Boat Club’s Under 23 Lightweight Men’s team this summer. Michelson coached the novice 8+ and the third varsity 8+ boats at Wesleyan, along with his responsibilities for high school recruiting.

“We’re excited to have Trevor join our program,” said Healey. “He brings a wealth of experience to our team.  He’s made an impact everywhere he’s been in his young coaching career and we’re looking forward to what he’ll bring to the team.”

Before his stint at Wesleyan, Michelson spent one year at Fordham University working with both the men’s and women’s crew teams in coaching and boatman positions respectively.  He also volunteered as a sculling instructor for the past two summers at Craftsbury Sculling Center, coaching junior aged athletes.

Michelson spent his college years as a four-year varsity rower at Wesleyan (2010-13), where he was a team captain and MVP, as well as a First Team All-NESAC selection.

He also competed at the World University Games in 2015 for the U.S. Lightweight Single Sculler, was a U.S. Lightweight 8+ Selection Camp and U.S. U-23 Lightweight four-time Selection Camp rower.

Michelson graduated from Wesleyan in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in government.
