Peterson to Make World Cup Debut at Soelden on Saturday

HANOVER, N.H. — The first FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup race of the season, featuring the men’s and women’s giant slalom, will take place this weekend in Soelden, Austria, with Dartmouth senior Foreste Peterson among those competing. Peterson will be making her World Cup debut in the event for which she was the top-ranked American in the NorAm last season.

Former Big Green skier David Chodounsky ’08 will also be competing in the men’s giant slalom on Sunday, as will Tommy Ford ’12.

Peterson, an NCAA First-Team All-American each of the last two years, won three giant slalom carnival races last year for the Big Green and six in her career with 11 total podiums.

Coverage of the races begins on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 4 a.m. (ET) with the first run of the women’s giant slalom, with the second run beginning at 6:30 a.m. (ET). While the first run will be streamed live on OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app, the second run will be aired on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, plus streamed live on the two online platforms as well as NCBSports.com and the NBC Sports app. NBC Sports Network will televise an encore presentation of the second run at 10:30 p.m. (ET), which will also be streamed on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
