Wed Dec 6, 2017

HANOVER, N.H.  –  Wednesday evening the No. 10 Dartmouth men’s squash team hosted No. 2 Harvard in its first home game of the year. The Big Green fell to the Crimson 9-0, moving to a 3-1 mark for the season, while the Crimson start 1-0.

First, on the exhibition court, freshman Toby Harding started strong, winning his first game, but ultimately fell in four. Freshman Reg Anderson and junior Matt Giegerich both put up a strong fight, but lost 3-0 to each of their opponents. In the second round of matches, freshman James Bell and junior Carson Spahr lost in three games each, but Brandon de Otaduy Nam almost managed to upset his Harvard opponent, going into five games where he fell in the fifth 11-9.

Drew Monroe managed to get one game so, it was up to senior Alvin Heumann to salvage some respect for the men in Green and White. Heumann looked strong halfway through the match and at 2-1 up, the team was hopeful. The fourth game ended quickly and the last game came to a heart-stopping tie-breaker, with the Crimson winning 12-10.

This weekend Dartmouth will travel to Massachusetts and Vermont for games at Williams and Middlebury respectively, on Saturday afternoon, before taking a break in play for the holidays.
