Big Green Kick Off Big Al Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving opened the three-day, six-session Big Al Invitational at Princeton’s DeNunzio Pool on Friday. The Big Green are currently in seventh place with 84 points, quite comfortably ahead of Rutgers with 20.

To start the evening, Dartmouth was eighth in the 200-yard freestyle relay picking up 22 points with its time of 1:35.08. Made up of Katherine Cane, Sophie Smith, Cathleen Li and Summer Martin, the Green out-touched Miami by less than two-tenths of a second.

Hayley Winter swam in the B final of the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:00.45, dropping half a second off her prelims swim. Mackenzie Stumpf and Summer Martin made it into the A final of the 200-yard IM, taking seventh and eighth with times of 2:03.86 and 2:07.04, respectively. 

Martin was back a few events later in the 50-yard freestyle, taking 14th (23.89). She was followed by Smith a tenth of a second later (24.00).

The Big Green placed fifth in the 400-yard medley relay (3:44.99), missing out on the Dartmouth record from 2013 by six one-hundredths of a second. The relay was made up of Caroline Poleway, Stumpf, Li and Martin and finished more than half a second ahead of Princeton.
