Hometown: Toronto, Canada Major: Government, with a minor in public policyJoseph Singh has an abiding interest in international relations. He did both of the government department's Foreign Study Programs (one in London, one in Washington, D.C.); a senior honors thesis on U.S.-Korea relations; and a Rockefeller Center-funded fellowship at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress. As a Presidential Scholar, he helped develop a worldwide genocide early-warning system. And he interned at a defense policy think tank and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development; was a finalist in Foreign Affairs magazine's 2012 Student Essay Contest; and has had op-eds published by CNN, Foreign Policy, and Time. He also sings with the Dartmouth Aires and is the head writing assistant at Dartmouth's student writing center. This fall, Singh will pursue a master's in public policy at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.Marshals are carefully selected by fellow students for their citizenship, enthusiasm, integrity, and positive impact on others. The marshals carry batons engraved with their names as they lead their classmates to the Green during the Commencement academic procession.
