Hometown: Princeton, N.J. Degree: BE in mechanical engineering, Thayer School of EngineeringMischa Gerschel lived in Zürich, Switzerland, until moving to the U.S. at age 8. He earned his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in physics from Middlebury College as part of a five-year dual-degree program with Dartmouth. During his time at Thayer, he spent four months off campus on a Dartmouth Humanitarian Engineering trip to Tanzania. He designed a solar panel mounting system for a local company, and was a teaching assistant in a class called “Design Thinking,” taught by Professor Peter Robbie. Gerschel's post-graduation plans are "to reflect, to talk to people, and to be adventurous."Marshals are carefully selected by fellow students for their citizenship, enthusiasm, integrity, and positive impact on others. The marshals carry batons engraved with their names as they lead their classmates to the Green during the Commencement academic procession.
