Dartmouth 2014 Student Marshal Elliot Sanborn ’14

Hometown: Palo Alto, Calif. Major: Government and anthropology, modifiedElliot Sanborn lived in Hong Kong till moving to the U.S. at age 7. His activities at Dartmouth have included a term studying European politics at the University of Oxford's New College; an independent study on the colonial history of West Africa; a Tucker Foundation fellowship in China, teaching children affected by HIV/AIDS; and a Dickey Center internship at a Dominican Republic microfinance bank. A member of Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek honor society and Order of Omega Greek leadership society, he chaired Dartmouth's Greek Leadership Council and served on a campus sexual assault committee. He's also played club soccer and performed with the Barbary Coast jazz ensemble and a student band. Next year, with support from Dartmouth's McGorrian and Lombard Fellowships, he'll be working for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Liberia.Marshals are carefully selected by fellow students for their citizenship, enthusiasm, integrity, and positive impact on others. The marshals carry batons engraved with their names as they lead their classmates to the Green during the Commencement academic procession.
